Crowns are caps that are placed on top of damaged teeth. When fillings fail to remedy the condition, crowns are utilized to protect, cover, and restore the contour of the teeth. Metals, porcelain, resin, ceramics and Zirconia are used to make dental crowns. Other than normal good dental hygiene, they usually don't require special maintenance over time.
When should you get a Crown?
Dental Crowns are required for a variety of reasons, including the following:
- Restoring a tooth that has been chipped, cracked, broken, or worn down.
- Protecting a tooth that is weak, such as one that has had a root canal.
- Maintaining the stability of a bridge or denture.
- Filling that has been shattered.
